Pezzettino is dead, long live … ZETI?
When we last checked in with Pezzettino’s Margaret Stutt, the Milwaukee/Brooklyn musician was staging an impromptu, decidedly weird concert in Cathedral Square. And even though we kind of dug it—Stutt handed out free bubbles and bubble wrap!—we wondered aloud whether the show was “simply a free concert, or the beginnings of a nervous breakdown.” It turns out we may have been on to something: Today, Stutt officially announced the end of Pezzettino, and the start of a new project called ZETI. Huh.
In an appropriately baffling press release, Stutt proclaims “Pezzettino is a short children’s moral story. Pezzettino is dead. Entering body—ZETI.” That enigmatic statement is followed by a small diagram, which may or may not have something to do with the Mayan calendar, and/or the Zeta Reticuli star system:
Before signing off, Stutt gives fans one last Pezz fix with a video cover of Guns N’ Roses’ epic “November Rain.” (Cue Slash wailing away in the desert.) And though it remains to be seen what Sutt has in mind for ZETI, the choice of “November Rain” seems like a fitting end to the strange, always eventful trip of Pezzettino. Like they say, that solo’s really long, but it’s a pretty song.
